What is Kisi?
Kisi is a USA-manufactured access control platform designed to manage physical security across doors, elevators, turnstiles, and facility gates. By combining cloud software with dedicated hardware, the system allows organizations to control entry permissions remotely across multiple locations. The platform replaces traditional locking systems with unified cloud management, providing administrative visibility and centralized oversight. Administrators can adjust access privileges, oversee daily security operations, and review entry logs from any web browser or mobile device without requiring on-site server infrastructure.
The hardware ecosystem centers on two primary devices: the Controller Pro 2 and the Reader Pro 2. The main controller acts as the central hub, managing up to four access points while maintaining offline operational reliability through three fallback mechanisms. The reader supports multiple credential formats, including mobile phone taps, wave gestures, Apple Wallet badges, and legacy RFID cards or fobs. For organizations looking to upgrade without replacing existing door components, Kisi provides retrofitting hardware that connects directly to legacy Wiegand systems, preserving existing wiring while adding cloud-based administrative functionality.
On the software side, Kisi provides a central dashboard that acts as a single management interface. Security operators can configure custom access tiers, set time-based door schedules, track physical occupancy, and trigger immediate facility lockdowns during emergencies. Built-in security features include tailgating detection, tamper alerts, and anti-passback rules that help prevent unauthorized entry. Additionally, the software compiles historical activity data and entry trends, enabling organizations to evaluate space utilization, measure the effect of security updates, and satisfy compliance standards across all managed properties.
The platform includes an open architecture supporting software integrations and custom development. Organizations can connect their security setup with single sign-on directories, video surveillance tools, visitor management solutions, and sector-specific applications such as coworking or fitness platforms. All system functions are accessible through an open application programming interface (API), while mobile software development kits (SDKs) for iOS and Android enable businesses to integrate door unlocking functionality directly into custom white-label tenant or workplace applications.
Designed to support flexible operational environments, Kisi caters to hybrid workplaces, commercial real estate, educational spaces, and round-the-clock facilities. On-site workflows can be expanded using dedicated tablet hardware, such as the Kiosk Pro, which handles visitor check-ins, day passes, and amenity bookings. By automating routine credential issuance and user offboarding, the platform reduces daily administrative tasks for facility managers while keeping physical entry points secure and monitored across all connected buildings.
